Measuring Remaining Filament on a Spool

The Internet is kind of awesome. This afternoon while in a taxi between customer sites I was thinking about the next print I want to do and how much filament it would need and that it shouldn’t be too hard to calculate the length of the filament left on a spool given it’s thickness and the inner and outer diameter of the spool.. sure enough someone has already written that calculator for you.

Weekend 3D Printer Upgrades

  • Replaced the Bowden tube
  • Added cable clips

Improving Bed Adhesion on the Creality CR-10 3D Printer with an Anycubic Ultrabase

In the first few months of playing with 3D printing on my CR-10S I’ve had a bunch of problems with bed adhesion - pretty persistently the corners of my PLA prints peel up when it gets to around the 4th or 5th layer. This improved quite a bit once I finally got some isopropyl alcohol to clean the print bed properly, but was still an issue.

Fixing a Loose Bowden Tube on a Creality CR-10S 3D Printer

Since I first bought it I’ve had an intermittent problem with the Bowden tube of my CR-10S coming loose - sometimes during prints. The clip / connector is very small and the teflon tube seems to just sit delicately in there with out much of a friction fit.
